Protecting yourself on the network

A short, practical guide. Read it once — it takes two minutes and may save you trouble later.

  1. 01

Choose a pseudonym if you have any doubt

If the sacrament is restricted in your country, or could be in the future, register under a name that does not identify you. Display names can be anything. Your email is private to us.

  2. 02

Treat the public fields as truly public

Display name, bio, avatar and socials can be seen by anyone, including search engines. Don't put anything there you wouldn't put on a postcard.

  3. 03

Don't publish exact addresses without consent

Many centers gather in private homes. Listing a precise address without the host's consent puts them at risk. Use the city-level visibility when in doubt.

  4. 04

    Think before adding photos

Avoid photos that identify specific people, especially in countries where the practice is restricted. A landscape, a building, a symbol — these tell the story without exposing anyone.

If the legal situation in your country shifts, or you simply changed your mind, DM us on Instagram at @santodaimemap. We will help you scrub or rename what you've published, or delete your account entirely.
